A DESTINATION WEDDING AT MONASTERIO VALBUENA
The Valbuena Monastery is one of those places that transcends time. Located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero wine region, surrounded by centuries-old vineyards and steeped in history, it has become one of the most popular destinations for destination weddings in Spain.
A particularly special example is that of Karla and Gilberto, who traveled from Puerto Rico with all their guests to celebrate one of the most important days of their lives here. Their story perfectly reflects what a destination wedding is all about: bringing together the people you love most, crossing the ocean, and experiencing an unforgettable moment in a place with soul, where every detail matters and every photograph becomes a lasting memory.
First Touch: The power of contact
Before the civil ceremony, Karla and Gilberto wanted to give themselves a moment just for themselves. In the silence of the Valbuena Monastery, they decided to experience a different kind of “first look,” or rather, a “first touch,” without seeing each other, simply holding hands and feeling each other’s presence. An intimate and emotional moment, perfect to begin their destination wedding at the Valbuena Monastery, where nerves, excitement, and love intensified just before they said “I do.”
Wedding Ceremony
The civil ceremony took place in one of the private areas of the Valbuena Monastery, an intimate and characterful space that perfectly reflected their vision for the day. It was a brief, warm, and very personal ceremony, where laughter and emotion mingled with constant nods to one of their great passions: wine. An authentic and meaningful moment, perfect for a destination wedding in a place so closely linked to the Ribera del Duero region and its history.
Wedding banquete at Monasterio de Valbuena
The banquet was held in the monastery’s cloister courtyard, a space filled with elegance and exquisitely crafted floral details, where every corner reflected Karla and Gilberto’s personalities. Bathed in warm light and an intimate atmosphere, they toasted to the special day they were enjoying.
Accompanying Karla and Gilberto on this day was a gift. As a wedding photographer, experiencing their emotion firsthand, the way they looked at each other, and the trust they placed in me to tell their story is something I deeply value.
Photographing moments like these, far from home but full of truth, reminds me why I love photographing destination weddings at Monasterio de Valbuena: because in places like this, honest, intense memories are born, memories meant to last a lifetime.
